The hotel... from 1854 to the present day

The Hôtel de France, formerly known as the 'Grand Hôtel de France', is one of the three 'Grands' in Bourg-en-Bresse.

As of 1849, Bourg-en-Bresse town centre began to take shape. The first buildings appeared, including the Hôtel de France, construction of which was completed in 1854.

This building has always welcomed travellers. It was what was then known as a coaching inn. Until just a few years ago, one could still see the rings that were used to hitch horses in the current garage, which was formerly the stable.

Over the years, successive owners have performed renovations and works to comply with new standards, while conserving the building's historical character.

Today, the Hôtel de France has never been as well equipped to welcome its guests. They can discover the hotel's world and share new experiences and anecdotes to enrich the establishment's history.
